The Scottish Young Carers Festival has been running since 2008. It takes place annually at the Scottish Outdoor Education Centre at Broomlee, West Linton during the summer holidays. 2017 will be the 10th Festival and they are hoping to do some special activities to celebrate this anniversary.

Around 600 young Carers attend the Festival from as far apart as Orkney and the Borders. The young Carers engage in consultation and have their voices heard by the people that can make a difference in national and local government. This year (2016) we had three Scottish Government Ministers in attendance, as well as local councillors and heads of education, health and social services. Through the years, the young Carers voice has shaped national policy and informed new legislation. It has also helped local services make links with their local politicians and in some cases producing significant results.
