Mindfulness is a relaxation based activity which can provide you with the tools to manage your everyday emotions, manage stress, relax and enable you to focus on what’s important – YOU!

Mindfulness exercises are methods of paying attention to the present moment, using techniques like meditation, breathing, and yoga. Training can help you to become more aware of your thoughts, feelings and body sensations.

Carers can often bear the brunt of stress because they are most likely to be juggling their caring role alongside their employment and/or family life, all of which can have a long term effect on their own health and wellbeing. It is important that you take time out from your caring role to relax and unwind as much as you can.

Medical studies have shown that by incorporating mindfulness practice on a regular basis  it can have a positive effect on a person’s mental health and wellbeing, sleeping pattern and energy levels.

Inverclyde Carers Centre can provide mindfulness training for registered Carers at the centre or through our many outreach venues.
