Hospital Based Support

If you are caring for a loved one who has been admitted to hospital, providing support to attend routine appointments or are simply caring for someone and attend hospital for your own health needs, we can help.

How can we help you?

Inverclyde Carers Centre has designated Carer Support staff who can provide information and support to Carers and relatives around a range of areas. Whether it be guidance around your rights as a working Carer, ensuring you are signposted to the right service after a new diagnosis or providing a link with hospital staff to ensure your needs as a Carer are highlighted in the planning and care of the person you look after, we can work with you to ensure you are fully supported throughout your caring role.

Alison Cloudsley is based within the Larkfield Unit day hospital, every weekday afternoon from 1.30pm to 4.30pm for Carers who wish to pop in for a chat. You can contact her on 01475 504801 or 07804552927.

We can provide information, support and advice around the following:

  • Hospital admission to being discharged
  • Accessing community based supports
  • Advocacy - Are your views being heard?
  • Benefit entitlements/ Informing DWP
  • Housing/ Adaptations
  • Supporting working Carers
  • Rights and Entitlements
  • Signposting
  • Making a Referral on your behalf
  • Planning for future care
  • Breaks from caring
  • Legal safeguards - Power of Attorney/ Guardianship
  • HSCP services and support

Who can refer Carers?

Carers can refer themselves, through a Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.
