What is a Short Break?

Put simply, a short break is any form of service or assistance which enables a carer to have sufficient and regular periods away from their caring routines or responsibilities.

Who can access our Alternative Short Breaks

  • Carers and young Carers (caring for children or adults). 
  • Carers who have not accessed similar type short breaks through ICC in the last 12 months.
  • Carers who have not been referred or receiving short breaks from HSCP.
  • Short breaks are available to Carers of all ages, gender, ethnicity, religion, race, sexual orientation, disability, caring responsibilities, economic and political affiliation. 

What costs can be met?

A maximum of £150 will be made directly to the Carer to ensure they have choice and control over their break. Examples of items/services purchased using alternative short breaks funding are eg. walking boots, tablets, fitness equipment, garden equipment etc.
