Lorna MacDonald Manager Expand Hi my name is Lorna and I joined the centre as Manager in 2008 having worked in various Community Learning Development posts in Inverclyde and Argyll & Bute. My work at the centre has grown and developed over the years as we have attracted a wider range of funding. The main purpose remains the same, to look after the operational management of the organisation, the day to day running. As the team has grown and frontline Carer Support Work has developed, I am able to focus more on the strategic work of the organisation. Over the last year much of this focus has been on developing Inverclyde Carers Strategy 2016 -2020 and ensuring this reflects the needs of Inverclyde Carers. My position is both challenging and rewarding, working closely with Inverclyde HSCP and Board of Directors. Having volunteered with Scottish Community Foundation and Poppy Scotland for a number of years I understand the commitment required of our Board Members and hold them in the highest regard. Without their dedication the organisation would not exist. [email protected]

Over the past few years I have been supporting Carers through my role as a Carers Support Worker, covering a range of areas including the sitter service and hospital based Carers support. My current role now involves supporting Carers through two different locations including the Carers Centre itself as well as each of the hospital units linked to Inverclyde. My role covers a range of different supports which are based around the centre’s core services as well as the hospital discharge service. This includes supporting Carers who come through the doors of the centre as well as those I meet through the hospital admission/ discharge process. In addition to my role within the hospital, I also co-ordinate the centre’s core sitter service which can support Carers to access a regular break from their day to day caring role. Whether I’m based at the centre or within a hospital setting, my role remains the same in providing guidance and support to Carers throughout the duration of their caring role. [email protected]
Karen Pollock Carer Support Worker - Transitions Expand Hi, I am Karen Pollock and I have been supporting Carers within the Carers Centre for around 4 years now. In my new role, I am a Transitions worker. This work focuses around Carers who are looking after people with additional support needs aged between 14 and 21. Carers in this category can find it extremely stressful trying to combine the care provided, while trying to access the correct support, which enables their child the opportunity to lead a full and inclusive life, and I can assist Carers throughout this process. I will also be inviting Carers to come along to information sessions where various local agencies will be on hand to offer advice on their services as well as providing one to one support. Paula Wood Carer Support Worker - Outreach Project Expand My name is Paula Wood and I am a Carer Support Worker with the Outreach Project at Inverclyde Carers Centre. My role is to identify and then support the hidden Carers in Inverclyde. This is achieved through community based activities and events, including the twelve different surgeries I hold over a month, right across Inverclyde. These enable Carers who aren't able to visit the centre to access the same information, advice and support as others. I also support Carers by providing opportunities for them to make links with their communities and to feel socially included. If it’s just a listening ear you’re after, I’m here for that too. If you are struggling to attend the centre or one of the outreach surgeries, I can make a home visit. [email protected]
