Financial Support

BT Benevolent Fund

Expand

First founded as a Post Office charity in 1853 the Fund now serves past and present BT people, and their dependents, who are suffering financial hardship.

Assistance is provided in a wide variety of ways. Grants are often made to relieve the pressure of priority debt arrears, particularly where there is a risk of eviction when small children are involved. With elderly beneficiaries the lack of any savings may mean that basic household appliances cannot be repaired or replaced so the Fund steps in to make sure these are provided. Illness and disablement can require expensive changes to a person’s home, such as stair lifts, walk-in showers and provision for wheelchair access. Grants are provided to address these needs and help improve quality of life. Other examples of help given are holidays associated with convalescence or to give a carer a break.

Glasspool Charity Trust

Expand

“We are one of the few national charities making grants to individuals which has no restrictions on the type of beneficiary we can support.

We provide timely, small, one-off grants to individuals and families in need of financial support for everyday items to help them set up or remain in their home; improve their well-being and in some cases we provide grants to support training to enable applicants to take up an offer of employment.

We invite applications from referral agencies on behalf of individuals as we believe that by working with others we can provide greater support.”
