Anne Price Anne Price - Chairperson Expand "I joined the Board in 2008 shortly after retiring from nursing in Inverclyde Royal Hospital. I have been Chairperson for the past four years. Working in the health service gave me some insight into the plight of Carers. Although being on the Board can be frustrating and demanding at times, I really enjoy the challenges. I hope that my small contribution helps support the Carers and the Centre staff."
Arthur Stringfellow Arthur Stringfellow - Board Member Expand Arthur was a registered Carer with the centre for a number of years before joining the board in 2012. Staff at the centre recognised Arthur's passion to ensure Carers receive the best possible support and asked if he might consider joining the board. Arthur enjoys being a board member, as he likes to see gradual improvements in the services and facilities available to Carers as well as noting the increasing profile of Carers both locally and nationally, and being able in a small way to help along this process. By using the experience gained from being a Carer, Arthur is able to provide some relevant insights and comments on the roles of both the Carer and the cared-for. His previous business experience also enables him to assist from time to time in items dealing with finance, pensions and personnel.
Brian McIntyre Brian McIntyre - Board Member and Treasurer Expand "My first involvement with the Carers Centre was in 2006 aiding the then committee on financial matters during the organisation's transition into a Limited Company. At the AGM in 2007 I was elected a board member and nominated to the role of company treasurer, a role in which I still fulfil. The thing I enjoy most being a board member is that all our directors are unpaid volunteers and are Carers or former Carers and that we all have the same goals and objectives in working together with the aim of guiding the centre's services to the betterment of Carers."
Christina Boyd Christina Boyd - Board Member Expand "After giving up work in 2010 I became a full time Carer for my late mother, and in 2011 I nursed my husband through terminal cancer. This prompted me to contact the Carers Centre and in 2013 I joined the board. It’s a really varied role and I enjoy the monthly board meetings. They give you a real insight into all the work that goes on behind the scenes. You get involved in the business decisions and can shape the future direction of the organisation. I like to think that I’m helping to make life a little easier for Inverclyde carers."
Irene Pollard Irene Pollard - Board Member Expand I was a founder member of the Board which was created from the Carers Council, I was approached by Graham Johnson to help set up a Carers Group about 20 years ago, Graham was employed by Inverclyde Community Department. The Carers Council which was formed by the Group that Graham set up was the people who campaigned for the establishment of the Carers Centre and when it was decided by the Council to have a Centre established we underwent considerable training to set up a Company limited by guarantee. As the board comprises of Carers and ex Carers I work with people who have similar experiences and problems I have encountered. I hope the Carers Centre is a place where Carers can come for advice, where they can meet with Carers, perhaps hear how other Carers managed to solve their problems, and have a certain amount of fellowship with other Carers which was the original aim when the Centre as established. This is why I and the other original members of the board became involved. ***NEED TO ADD PICTURE***
Les Galloway Les Galloway - Board Member and Secretary Expand “Hi, My name is Les and I’ve been a member of the board of Inverclyde Carers Centre since 2008. Becoming a Carer is a challenging experience and the Carer Centre provided advice and support, as well as an opportunity to meet others in a similar position. Volunteering as a trustee is a rewarding experience, where trustees work together for the benefit of Carers. We provide strategic management and direction while ensuring the charity does what it was set up to do. I hope we can make a positive difference to the wellbeing of Carers, by enhancing their quality of life, empowering and helping them realise their value and contribution.”
Margaret Deveaney Margaret Deveaney - Board Member Expand “I have been a member on the board of Inverclyde Carers Centre since it began. I was a Carer for my daughter at the time and I was interested in campaigning for Carers. I enjoy attending the monthly board meetings to find out what’s happening for Carers and to try help make things better for future Carers.”
