Young Adult Carers and what they've been up too

Our Young Adult Carer group has been busy over the past few months. They have been attending Street League on a weekly basis. Street League gives the Young Adult Carers the opportunity to participate in sports and learn key skills for employment. The Young Carers have welcomed the challenges of Street League and thoroughly enjoyed taken part.

The group also had an alcohol awareness evening, staff from Inverclyde alcohol team visited the centre. The group had a fun and interesting evening learning about units of alcohol and how to keep themselves safe and healthy in regards to drinking alcohol.

Lastly, our Young Adult Carers attended First Aid Training. This gave them the confidence and understanding of how to deal with first aid issues. This was a great opportunity so that they don't feel stressed or in a vulnerable position if the person they care for is in an emergency situation.

The group continue to meet on a Wednesday evening at 5pm in the centre. We will be starting a new Young Adult Carer group for Carers aged 16 and 17, details to be confirmed soon. If interested in attending any of our groups please contact Stacey Gillen on 01475 735180.
