SUPPORTING CARERS TO EXPRESS THEIR VIEWS
Staff at the centre can give extra support that enables Carers to speak up for themselves, or they can assist by being a voice for the Carer.
· Accompanying Carers to meetings or reviews · Accessing medical services · Ensuring Carers are aware of their rights · Ensuring others are aware of Carers needs · Taking a complaint forward · Form filling and letter writing
This confidential service is free to all Carers registered with the Centre so it won’t cost you anything and may even save you time and money.
Carers Rights Day
On the 5th December 2008 Inverclyde Carers Centre hosted this years Carers Rights Day event in partnership with Inverclyde Council Social Work Services, Your Voice, Inverclyde Community Care Forum and partner agencies. Each year a range of participatory activities are planned in accordance with the particular theme outlined by Carers Scotland and Carers UK with the aim to; Increase the take up of benefits as many benefits go unclaimed each year Ensure that carers know their rights Direct carers towards practical support Raise awareness of the needs of carers To help individuals recognise themselves as carers An booklet has been compiled and is now available by clicking the link Carers Rights Day booklet 2008/09 “Making the most of your money”.
