MISSION STATEMENT Inverclyde Carers Centre Ltd will provide a service to identify and support carers to recognise and be recognised by others for their valuable contribution to society. Aims and Objectives To promote the recognition of carers amongst service providers as partnersTo help carers access appropriate services To promote the rights of carers To provide short breaks for carers To establish a carers network To enable carers to participate in planning and influencing the development of services To enable carers to take opportunities for paid/ unpaid activities within or out with their home To work in partnership with other agencies as appropriate
OUR STAFF My overall role is to oversee day to day activities and support the Board of Directors to implement longer term plans for centre. This involves managing and supporting to staff to ensure the centre reaches out to people who care for others and provides useful, high quality support for them. It also involves finding ways to encourage carers to speak out about their experiences, good or bad, in order that they help shape and improve support for carers throughout the area.
My name is Donna Martin and I am employed as Project Worker within the centre. I have worked in the centre since it opened in 2001 supporting Carers by signposting to services, organising respite and training sessions and providing carers with relevant information. I am also available as a listening ear if a Carer needs someone to talk to. My job is to support caring in anyway I can and this is lead by the needs of the Carers. I very much enjoy working with Carers and the variety it brings on a day to day basis.
My name is Fiona Moore and I am the Administration/ Information Worker within Inverclyde Carers Centre. My role
as Administration/ Information worker involves welcoming carers and visitors to
the centre. I am responsible for providing a range of administration support
throughout the project and ensuring that carers are kept fully informed about
all areas related to their caring role. In addition to my administrative role
within the project, I am also available to help and support carers.
Since I joined the centre in May 2007 I have had the chance to work directly with over 95 carers and look forward to helping many more in the future.
The main
purpose of my post is to bring help and support to Carers who cannot call into
the Carers Centre because of their caring role, or because they feel
uncomfortable outwith their own surroundings. Since I came into post in 2006 I
have helped and supported almost 200 carers, in various community settings
across Inverclyde. Most of these carers are known as hidden carers, as they are
not registered with us, or don’t see themselves as carers. You can drop in to
any of the surgeries shown below to see me where I can register you as a carer,
provide any information and support which will help you as a Carer. You might
just want to drop by for a chat and to catch up with the new developments at the
Centre.
